Kerstin Rodgers AKA Ms Marmite Lover won the best online writer category at the Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards last night. The chef’s blog msmarmitelover.com has been heralded for revolutionising the way people dine through its introduction to the supper club underground movement. Now in their second year, the awards celebrate the very best in writing, publishing and broadcasting on food and drink.
On Saturday 12 April 2014, Brent’s Deputy Mayor launched the “Taste of Kilburn” Food festival visited by over 200 people at the Taste of Kilburn Gazebo in Kilburn Square and its information hub at the Tricycle Theatre. ‘Taste of Kilburn’ brought together businesses, residents’ associations and local councils to encourage more people to eat out or buy take-aways from Kilburn restaurants in the High Road and Willesden Lane as well as in the side streets. This year we are celebrating Xmas in Kilburn with a special tree in Kilburn Sq where everyone can place their own wish for Kilburn. The Kiburn Xmas tree is sponsored by local traders, residents, South Kilburn Trust, ABi Associates and other local organisations as well as Brent and Camden councils. It signifies the continuing local commitment to the Kilburn High Road and a new platform to strengthen the Kilburn Partnership across Brent and Camden to make improvements on and around the High Road.
– In October 2013 compared with September 2013, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade fell by 0.2% in the euro area (EA17) and by 0.4% in the EU28
– In September retail trade decreased by 0.6% and 0.4% respectively.
– In October 2013 compared with October 2012 , the retail sales index fell by 0.1% in the euro area and rose by 0.5% in the EU28.
– Year-on-year estimates of the quantity bought in the retail industry continue to show growth. In October 2013, the quantity bought increased by 1.8% compared with October 2012. On the month the quantity bought decreased by 0.7%. Despite this fall, the underlying pattern in the data as suggested by the three month on three month movement is flat, following a sustained seven month period of growth. Read the rest of this entry »
